DIGITAL SPACES

Reflection

We grew up with the Internet and technology that seems to evolve by the second. During this semester, I have had the opportunity to use the Internet and technology to reinvent my work in digital spaces. Whether using Prezi for the My Name assignment or talking about how Podcasting can become this generation’s “War of the Worlds,” I have used technology in ways I never thought possible. I have heard about many of the types of software we had the privilege to use, but as a business student, I never had the freedom to use them in the ways we learned. Creative writing is an amazing art but we had the chance to remix our writing into the twenty-first century. Remixing describes taking a piece of art or work, our writing, and presenting it in a different way. Because of new and emerging technology, we have the opportunity to create and remix our creative writing and share it with people around the world.

 

I think the most impressive aspect of remixing our works in digital spaces is not the new medium but that our works have the opportunity to reach potentially millions of people around the world. I come from a small town in Western Kentucky, so to have the opportunity to have my work and creativity to be seen by more people than I could possibility dream of is an amazing concept. Digital spaces will continue to grow, and with every growth, we will find ways to create new ways to unitize the space for creativity.

 

I think writing in digital spaces will not only flourish in the next few years, but it will only get better just like technology. More and more people are turning to the Internet to get their news, talk to friends, and tell their stories. As technology and different digital spaces emerge and evolve, so will people’s uses of them. During this semester, I had the opportunity to experience the early stages of digital spaces and cannot wait to see the newest medium of writing and creativity to develop and advance in the future.
